About Me…

Hi Guys! I’m Britta Clayton (“Britt” is a childhood nickname), 57, a fluid acrylic artist living in Houston, Texas. During the day, I works as a Project and Administrative Coordinator for a local custom builder here in Houston. It’s my day job that provides a lot of my creative inspiration, as I get to see both the bold and subdued styles of decor in the finished homes we build. Being a single girl leaves me a lot of time to focus on my passions - putting color to canvas, creating something conversation-worthy and unique and teaching other creatives how to do what I do. I believe that your art should be just as colorful and one-of-a-kind as you are.

I was raised in New Mexico and quickly developed a love and appreciation for the beautiful, earth tone landscape that surrounded me there. You’ll see many of these earth tones incorporated into my pieces because even though I left New Mexico, it never really left me.

The love of physical beauty is universal - and art is not excluded. Art can make us feel, it can make us remember. It can transport us to another place and time in our memory that we may have forgotten, or it can trigger a response of either positive or negative emotion.

Art Is Powerful.

Everyone deserves to have amazing art in their homes. The right piece on a wall coordinated with its surroundings can have a calming, zen-like effect. It can create a sanctuary, a safe haven. It can draw you in to another world.

“Creating art has never been about the money for me. It’s about the act of ‘creating’ something gorgeous that’s pleasing to the eye and that speaks to the deepest part of a person. It’s about watching that smile light up someone’s face when it’s placed on the wall in its new home and it brings such dimension, ambiance and emotion to the room that you can literally feel it. It’s about creating joy - both on the canvas and in people’s lives. That’s why I do what I do. Besides my four children and four grandchildren that I love with my whole heart, below are my three “other loves:”

Addy (I call her “Mama”) - born around December 1, 2018. Very temperamental and outspoken as most Seal Point Siamese are. She was born in the attic of my former apartment complex (hence her given name) and had to be liberated from my living room wall! I had the pleasure of bottle-feeding her from 2 weeks old and I am her only Alpha. She’s prim and proper, doesn’t frolic around a whole lot and is pretty stuck-up most of the time, but she’s extremely affectionate when she wants to be and loves to curl up on my chest for some scratches and the occasional nap. She’s a Diva to her spoiled rotten core and she takes no nonsense from her brother and sister - and she especially doesn’t like sharing me. She’s very vocal and I literally cannot say a word to this cat without her talking back. Very much like having a teenager in the house!

Bubba is a Gray Point Siamese that was born sometime in July 2019. He was found at an apartment complex and had been abandoned by his mother at 2-weeks old. I rescued him from BARC and bottle-fed him for a month. He’s the most playful, laid back Siamese I’ve ever seen, despite being sometimes bullied by Addy the Terror. He can spend hours playing fetch, he gets crazy zoomies and ends up standing in a corner looking up at nothing (ghosts??) and loves to drag himself along the bottom of my furniture like he’s possessed (ghosts again??). He has the sweet habit of literally following me EVERYwhere I go, and he prefers to be up against me when he falls asleep.

Spice Girl was born around June of 2019 and she’s a beautiful Calico. I call her my Spicy little Cali-Girl. My best friend and I picked her out at BARC at about 8-weeks old. This was when I thought maybe Addy-the-Terror needed company. Oh was I wrong. So I ended up getting Bubba to keep Spicy company! But I digress. Out of all the kittens there at the shelter, Spicy was the most nonchalant of them all, like she didn’t have a care in the world. She’s very sweet and sensitive and has the loudest purrrr. We don’t have the same bond as the other two since I didn’t bottle feed her, but she knows who her mama is. She and Bubba like to curl up together and take naps, or take turns giving each other baths. They’re definitely sweethearts and spend most of their time trying to stay out of their evil sister’s way.
