Let your imagination take over.

What are fluid acrylics?

Fluid acrylics are acrylic paints mixed with mediums and/or water to a variety of fluid consistencies, depending on the technique you’re using, designed to flow and spread easily without sacrificing color intensity. Fluid acrylics are ideal for pouring or dribbling paint, rather than applying it with a brush. There are numerous methods that can be used in fluid acrylic painting to provide a plethora of pleasing abstracts and designs that almost everyone will find appealing.

The Creation

The 9 colors of paint you saw above were used to create this 30” x 40” fluid acrylic abstract piece. The paints were poured randomly all over the canvas and a blow dryer was used to manipulate and move the paint into the patterns you see. After the colors were blown out, some iridescent white was added in several places, adding to the movement of the composition and giving a pearlescent “cloud” effect.
